Theta Symbol in Greek Alphabet
Theta (uppercase ϴ, lowercase θ) is the eighth letter of the Greek alphabet. In the Greek numeral system, it represents the number nine. Theta was also used as a symbol of death in Greek and Latin epigraphy. The Phoenician letter Teth (or ṭēt) gave rise to the Greek letter, and it meant wheel. The minuscule and capital letters are used in various areas such as geometry, trigonometry, meteorology, population genetics, econometrics, statistics, etc.
The letter theta is used to denote an angle in geometry as well as an unknown variable in trigonometry. It also represents the voiceless dental fricative in the International Phonetic Alphabet.
